Slow drying is a common clue

If clothes need more than one cycle, the dryer feels hot, or the laundry room warms up more than normal, the vent may not be exhausting properly.

Check the outside hood

The exterior flap should open when the dryer runs. Weak airflow, lint at the hood or a blocked screen can point to a restriction.

Why it matters

Lint buildup can increase heat and make the dryer work harder. Cleaning the lint trap is important, but it does not clean the full vent run.
